American Samoa will join forces with computer giant Microsoft to provide free technology training to individuals across the Territory.
Elevate America provides a wide variety of resources to individuals seeking skills and job resources and Microsoft, through them, will work with the Employment and Training Division Workforce Investment Act program under the Department of Human Resources to distribute over 3,000 vouchers free of charge, for online technology training.
American Samoa’s governor, Togiola Tulafono, says it’s a fundamental necessity for the local workforce to be proficient in computers.
He says jobs of the future in government and the private sector will rely heavily on technology.
Togiola says the innovative program is a wonderful example of a partnership that’s providing the critical training tool the territory needs to successfully produce more skilled workers
