Some of the biggest names in New Zealand hip hop have joined forces to encourage wise decision-making in young Kiwis. The result is the charity single ‘Think Twice’, which was released this week.

‘Think Twice’ is the brainchild of well known Maori DJ Sir-Vere.
“Recently my son turned ten and that same weekend there was a sharp increase in violence and crime in general, particularly out of the region I'm from [South Auckland],” he says.
“Some of the things happening seemed to be a result of poor judgement and it got me wondering how things might be different if people stopped to think twice about the consequences of their actions.”
Sir-Vere thought of ways he could help make a difference and the result is Aotearoa All Stars, a mega-collaboration comprising New Zealand’s top hip hop names who have donated their time and talent for this worthy cause. Aotearoa All Stars includes Awa from Nesian Mystik, Che Fu, Scribe, P-Money, Savage, PNC, Mareko, Cyphanetik, Delani, Flowz, and TEK.
“So what are we trying to say? We are simply saying this: take the time to think twice. We aren’t trying to tell people what to do. We aren’t trying to tell people what not to do. We are telling people to think twice about how their actions might affect themselves and the people around them,” adds Sir-Vere.
‘Think Twice’ is being distributed to radio and record stores and is available online and by mobile phone download.
All proceeds from sales of ‘Think Twice’ will go to youth development organisation Youthline.
