Tua’s sudden withdrawal

A family issue has forced New Zealand boxer David Tua to withdraw from his proposed heavyweight bout in the United States in February.

Tua was due to fight American Bruce Seldon in Atlantic City on February 7 (NZT), ahead of meeting Nigerian Friday Ahunanya in New Zealand in March.

However, he has pulled out, citing family matters.

Promoter Cedric Kushner announced the cancellation on Thursday.

"I was really looking forward to coming to America after the holidays but due to this significant family matter I simply have to remain in New Zealand and continue my preparation for my March 27 event here," Tua said.
