The 38th annual ASB Polyfest was officially launched at the Auckland War Memorial last night (27th). Over 10,000 students from 59 schools from around Auckland will participate in the world’s largest Pacific Island and Maori festival.
Patron for Polyfest Mayor Len Brown says the event is unique to New Zealand. He says it’s about celebrating our history, our voyages. “I am proud to be a son of the Pacific.”
James Cook High School will take on the role of head school for the festival. There will be six stages with over 200 groups performing.
This years’ theme is ''The gifts of Papatuanuku are a koha to the people. Cherish and care for them''. The festival will run over four days from March 13th-16th.
